The Jewish Theological Seminary Dual Degree Program

JTS Double Degree Post:

Jewish student life is vibrant at Barnard and in New York City as a whole. In addition to religious and secular opportunities students have to get involved and explore their Jewish identities, there are also countless academic opportunities. One of those academic opportunities takes place in partnership with The Albert A. List College of Jewish Studies of The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) through the Double Degree Program. Interested in pursuing a degree at both Barnard and List? Let’s explore the benefits of this unique opportunity below!

What is the Double Degree Program?

The Double Degree program is a dual-degree program where students earn a bachelor’s degree from Barnard and a second Bachelor’s degree from List College. Not only do you complete Barnard’s Foundations Curriculum, you also complete List’s Core Curriculum. This means students will complete requirements for both the BA in liberal arts at Barnard College and the BA in Jewish Studies at List College.

Who is the Double Degree Program For?

Students who are interested in pursuing a liberal arts degree in a women’s college setting as well as pursuing intensive study of Jewish History, Jewish Literature, Jewish Thought, Bible, Talmud, and Hebrew may thrive in the Double Degree program.

Why Should I Consider the Double Degree Program?

If you are curious about the world around you, drawn to being in community with bold women, and have a desire to be in a pluralistic community with other Jewish students then JTS may just be the right fit for you.

How do I Apply for the Double Degree Program?

Applicants who decide they want to be part of the Barnard-JTS Double Degree Program apply via List College on the Common App. The admissions committees at List College and Barnard College work together to review these applications.
